This is a nice little campground to base your explorations of Gettysburg from. It is only a mile to the visitor center and less than that to some points of the battlefield. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The site was ready when we arrived. It was a pretty quiet atmosphere to spend the evening after touring the battlefield. The sites are not huge but fair. We lucked out by not having a neighbor on our camping side the whole time which made it seem really big. The little fishing lake was entertaining for the kids and the game room had plenty of machines though they were very dated. I recognized a couple from my high school years in the early 80's. But the kids liked them anyway. Do not take 30 from the west into Gettysburg if you don't like 7% grades, and lot's of 'em. I came that way due to the GPS directions and we were fine with our jake brake on our diesel but I'd worry without it. We would stay here again with no problem.
This has got to be one of our favorite campgrounds by far. We only stayed two nights while visiting the Richmond area and wished we could have stayed a little longer! After camping in the hustle and bustle of the DC area this was a welcome break! The grounds are very well maintained by the owners and it's obvious they take pride in the facilities. It is very quiet as they are not close to a highway. We were there during the week so it was not crowded at all. The sites are very spacious with brick patios and fire rings. My kids loved the fishing ponds which were beautiful. The owners son brought us along to feed the catfish and the kids still talk about it. We also learned how to talk to the cows in the pasture! I had a nice conversation with the owners on our second night and really enjoyed their company. The camp store is very nice with loads of antiques and collections. The only thing that would make this a ten for me would be Wi-Fi and cable right at my rig. Other than that this has been our favorite stop from Arizona to Maryland and we will find a reason to return. Highly recommended for relaxation or visiting Richmond/Appomattox area.
We only stayed one night here while passing through. It seemed to be a pretty clean and accommodating campground. The camp sites were of fair size for the most part. They directed us right to our site and helped us park. They have bike rentals and fishing. There is a little dog play park that is fenced in out of the way for the critters. You are very close to the highway but the noise was really not bad at all. The wifi was having problems and the male half of the owners looked into it and got it working for us. DO pay attention to the directions they give you as if you have a big rig you want to enter from the west due to the turn into the campgrounds. The lady that checked me in (I don't think it was the owner) was a little put off that I suggested they put up a KOA sign on the street. They are working on zoning for it I guess. I was looking for the yellow KOA tent and went past the campground. So I had to turn around and make the sharp corner into the grounds anyway with my rig after driving 8 miles out of the way to get the right exit. Oh well. Their sign actually is big and white and says Fox Fire Resort.
This is a very nice State Park. The road is winding to the campground but we didn't have a problem with a 39' coach and Suburban toad. The park staff is friendly and helpful. The sites don't offer any 50 amp or sewer but it's worth getting by without. It was not too crowded during the week but the weekend was packed. The sites are fairly large though and you are not on top of each other. There were a lot of kids but the noise was not unruly. Easy access to the nice little city of Madison. We will return for sure.
This is a hard campground to review. You cannot beat it's proximity to Washington, DC for going into the town via the train. They are tailored for the DC tourist here with a Metro bus stop right on the grounds that will take you to the train station for your commute to town. You can buy your bus tokens and train tickets right there for your convenience. There is shopping right down the road for your groceries and such. The camp store is nice and well equipped. The pools looked maintained and the little snack bar was convenient. They will not assign a space until you get there for pull-thrus so we didn't know if we had one or not. The young man checking us in didn't look at our reservation preferences and we had to ask if it was a 50 amp pull thru and he said "oh, you want one of those." He assigned us a spot and we went to it and put down the jacks and slide outs when my wife yelled to me to hold up as it was a 30 amp site only. Great. Called the office and they sent a guy out to us. He looked to confirm it was only 30-amp and apologized and offered a back-in space for us. That was fine so we did that and they refunded the $5 extra/day they charge for the pull-thru. The sites are crowded with not much room between neighbors. The road noise from being next to Washington Beltway is VERY loud. You can hear the trucks with Jake Brakes and racing motorcycles all night long so it's best to keep the windows closed and the AC on for quiet. The personnel at the campground were not the friendliest people. They seemed to be burned out from dealing with tourists. The roads are crowded so if you don't like traffic with your rig you are going to the wrong area. We came down from the north off 29 and didn't have any problems with traffic at mid-day. Bottom line for us is Cherry Hill is just a place to crash after a long day in DC. It is not really a camping experience since it's busy, noisy and crowded. If you are spending your time in DC this is a convenient location to park.
This is a very clean, very safe park. Neat as a pin. Wide open save a few trees. But some of those trees are lemon and such and you can feel free to pick your own. Camping World and Beaudry RV right outside the park. You won't lack for anything here....except the diner wasn't open for breakfast or even coffee.
This is a nice park tucked away from the interstate in the countryside. We were late arrivals and there was a packet at the office for us with a map and directions to our site. There are plenty of nice sites there, some open and some wooded. We were in a pull through site that was easy to get in and out of. We saw some back in sites on the side of the grounds that looked very nice and a little more private. If we come back through we will try and get one of those. There is a nice little office and rec area also. We only stayed one night so can't say much about any other activities.
We only stayed one night on a stopover but found the park to be clean and friendly. When making reservations the lady was very helpful with info. We were late arrivals and they had a packet waiting for us at the night drop with a map to our site highlighted. While not the fanciest park by any means, it is a nice relaxing place. We plan to return on our trips west.
